Teen Age Republicans, Young Democrats, Beta Club Join Forces to Help Tornado Victims

Upon hearing about the tornadoes that devastated western Kentucky over the weekend, many in the Central Hardin community began wondering what they could do to help.

Teen Age Republicans sponsor and social studies teacher Dana Garrett got the ball rolling.

“The student officers of the Teen Age Republicans had been looking for an opportunity to give back to the community and also provide an avenue for other students to get involved,” Garrett said, “so it just seemed like the perfect fit to help lead the local efforts in collecting donations at our school.”

After getting a donation drive approved by the administration, Garrett’s efforts were met by the sponsors of Young Democrats and Beta Club. As a result, students can take a variety of donation items to Garrett in room 302, math teacher and Young Democrats sponsor April York in room 218, or English teachers and Beta Club sponsors Angela Cannon in room 105 and Lindsey Corley in room 103.

“Having a background in non-profit and seeing the vital role philanthropy plays in the success of our community, I was very proud to see the swift response of our club leaders wanting to take action to help our neighbors in western Kentucky,” Garrett said.

Now, Central Hardin community, the ball is in your court. Do what you can to help this worthy cause. Items needed are listed in the infographic attached.
