Grant Anthony Avis, Writer

Hello friends, I am Grant Avis and I’m a senior at Central Hardin. This is my first year on the staff. Since I am brand new, I am still working to find my niche. However, I want to focus on informing students about the creation of policy that impacts them. Every day, countless decisions are made that impact the lives of high school students. These decisions are typically made without the input or even the knowledge of high schoolers. I want to give my peers the opportunity to witness and have a voice in that decision making process. I will work to inform students on educational decisions made at all levels of leadership.

Outside of my role on The Central Times, I am involved in a variety of things. I value community highly, and I attempt to serve my community when I can. In my role within the Central Hardin community, I serve as captain of the Academic Team, a World History Peer Mentor, a Speech Team member, a Y Club member, President of the Beta Club, President of the Young Democrats, and Senior Class President. In the larger community, I am an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, and have served as a campaign field intern for both Amy McGrath and Governor Andy Beshear. I plan to attend the University of Louisville next year with a major in history. I intend to return to my beloved community to serve as a history teacher.
