BOYS’ BASKETBALL
The boys’ varsity basketball team, coached by Tavon Johnson, went 18-11 this season. The Bruins fell in the District 17 semi-finals to Elizabethtown on Feb. 28, which ultimately ended their play. Senior Brett Decker led the team in scoring averaging 21.5 points and 5.5 rebounds a game. Decker was named 5th Region Player of Year, took over as the all-time leading scorer for CHHS, and entered the 2000-point club this season. Senior Ace Jaggers entered the 1000-point club, averaging 13.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Sophomore Carson Nichols led the team with the highest free-throw percentage at 95% and averaged at 4.0 rebounds per game. Senior Donovan Stone, junior Lucas Thompson, and sophomore Camdyn Hogan also contributed heavily to the team’s scoring.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
The girls’ varsity basketball team, coached by Glenn Petersen, went 13-17 this season. The Lady Bruins fell to North Hardin in the District 17 semi-finals on Feb. 17, ending their play. Junior Juliana Stith entered the 1000-point club this year, averaging 19 points and 4.5 rebounds a game. Sophomore Kaitlyn Huggins nearly averaged a double double with 8.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Senior Allie Link, junior Samantha Nelson, and junior Graci Blair also contributed heavily to the team’s scoring.

BOYS’ SWIMMING
The boys’ varsity swim team, coached by Natalie Miller, placed 4th at the Region 3 Championship meet on Feb 2-3. Sophomore Lochlan Huerth was the Region Champion in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Huerth broke the school record in both events on multiple occasions throughout the season with a final time of 21.86 for the 50 free and 48.18 for the 100 free. Huerth was also named ‘Swimmer of the Meet” earlier in the season at the Debbie Loy Invitational on Jan. 5-6. Sophomore Jacob Norton took home Region 3 Runner-Up in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard fly. Norton broke the school record for the boys’ 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.22. The boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay placed third in finals.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING
The girls’ varsity swim team, coached by Natalie Miller, achieved the distinction of Region 3 Championship Team Runner-Up on Feb. 2-3. Earlier in the season, the girls secured first place at Laker Fall Preview and second place at the Panther Invitational. Notably, eighth graders Saraya Almasarweh, Sydney Wright, Lia VanZant, and junior Izzy Gorin were celebrated as High-Point Winners. Almasarweh was the Region Champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and took third in the 200-yard Individual Medley. Wright took Region Runner-Up in the 100-yard backstroke and Gorin took third in the 100-yard breaststroke.

BOYS’ INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
The boys’ varsity track team, coached by Tim Pennington, had six runners and one field athlete qualify for the AAA Indoor State Championships this season. Junior Jared Fairbanks broke his own school record for the indoor 3000-meter run with a time of 9:05 and placed 11th at state on Mar. 2. The boys 4×800-meter relay placed 16th with a time of 9:46 and junior Zain Lowery placed 11th in long jump with a new personal best of 18-11.75 feet.

GIRLS’ INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
The girls’ varsity track team, coached by Samantha Dale, had seven runners at the Indoor State Championships this season. Junior Kennedi Alford broke the indoor school records for the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash on numerous occasions, the most recent runs at the AAA Indoor State Championships on Mar. 3. Alford placed 8th in the 60m with a time of 7.85 and 8th in the 200m with a time of 25.78. The girls 4×800-meter relay placed 14th with a time of 10:51 after being seeded 23rd and the girls 4×400-meter relay placed 21st with a time of 4:25, just 0.5 seconds shy of an indoor school record.

WRESTLING
The boys’ varsity wrestling team, coached by Marty Fulkerson, placed fifth in the Region Championship meet on Feb. 10. Earlier in the season, the Bruins placed second at the Bruin Duals on Dec. 13 and fifth at the Jessamine County Clash on Jan 28. Overall the team finished 16-8.

BOYS’ BOWLING
The boys’ varsity bowling team, coached by Dayton Epperson, capped off a solid year with a “back to back” Region Championship title. The Bruins averaged 243 a game in the semi-finals and finals as they defeated NHHS and JHHS on the way to the title. Junior Ty McGuffin took home the regional singles title and senior Matthew Withers finished third in singles. McGuffin was also named the “All-Area Bowler of the Year.” The boys’ team fell in the elite eight round of the State Championships to Pendleton County on Feb. 6. Junior Isaiah Washington and senior Carley Shrader won the unified Region 2 Championship with the combined score of 333. However, their reign ended against Graves county in the third round of the state on Feb. 7.

GIRLS’ BOWLING
The girls’ varsity bowling team, coached by Sherry Logsdon, was named Region 2 Champions after defeating both the #1 and #2 seeds, NHHS and JHHS, on Jan. 27. The Bruin girls battled John Hardin for the title and won with a 177-151 finish. The ladies fell in the first round of the state tournament to Boyle County on Feb. 5. Freshman Kyndle Jaggers was named “All Area Newcomer of the Year.”
