About the Contributors
Sydney Rowser, Writer, Social Media Manager
Hiya, I’m Sydney Rowser. I am a senior and this is my first time on The Central Times staff. I’m grateful to have this opportunity to write articles that students and teachers can see.
I’ve enjoyed a lot of the creative outlets. My top three are drawing, writing, and singing. I’m never without a sketch book and my hundreds of Samsung notes of endless words of short stories, song lyrics, and random grocery lists that don’t help me remember everything I need to get. I do love hanging out with my friends and playing games.
I did commissions for a short while as it was a small dream of mine, and I was so happy to make it come true. It is harder if you don’t have a bank account but that didn’t stop me from doing it. So, remember to go forward with your dreams, even your small ones!
I hope that my articles make people stay informed and smile. I really want to do great things for the students.
Lynn Moseley, Writer
Hii, I’m Lynn! I’m a sophomore at Central and this is my first year on the staff. I’m super excited to be a part of such a great group of people and can’t wait to experience more of Central by covering lots of different stories.
I’ve always loved writing, it’s my biggest passion. But I also love reading and music. I love listening to music of all types from my CD collection and I love playing music too. I’m definitely never without my airpods. My favorite books to read are classics, the ones that really have an impact.
I hope my articles can help me improve my personal writing, and I hope the Central community can stay more informed and have just a little bit of a better day because of them!
Cici Hicks, Editor-in-Chief, Writer
Hiiii! I’m Cici Hicks! I am a junior and this is my third year on the Central Times staff. I am extremely grateful for my previous experience at the Times, and I’m looking forward to covering all the stories around Central.
Aside from writing, I LOVE music, whether playing my guitar or listening to my favorite music (The Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins, and Frank Ocean), it’s a big part of my life. I also love watching movies; my favorites are 500 Days of Summer, Dazed and Confused, and Inception.
I am never without a book in my bag. I love reading anything by Sylvia Plath; The Bell Jar is my favorite book of all time. I love reading classics, all the books that everyone should read once in their life.
This year, my goal is to tell as many stories of Central Hardin as possible, being news or feature articles, I want to focus on all things relevant to the student body. That being said, I hope this school year is amazing!!
Will Grimes, Writer, Social Media Manager
Hi Guys! Hello! Hi!!! I’m Will, and I’m a junior! This is my first year on The Central Times staff. I’ve been wanting to work for the newspaper for a very long time, and I’m glad I finally have the opportunity to support my community! I love writing, so I thought journalism would be right up my alley! I also really like photography, and I’m trying to learn how to improve my skills!
I work at HCEC-TV, where I record videos, edit videos, and overall serve the community by keeping them informed! I hope to achieve the same things while on the newspaper staff. I want nothing more than to better the lives of everyone at Central Hardin by keeping them informed and entertained! And there’s nothing I dislike more than people not knowing the truth.
Some things I like to do outside of work are listening to and making my own music. It’s probably my biggest passion, maybe even more than writing! I also love fish, or just anything aquatic! Even the freaks in the deep sea, I love them all to pieces! I hope I bring a friendly and fun energy to The Central Times, and I look forward to a great school year!
Alexandra Lyon, Writer
Hey, my name is Alex Lyon! I’m a sophomore, and this is my first year being on The Central Times Staff for 2025-26. I’m so grateful and happy for this opportunity, and I’m looking forward to the experience that awaits me!
I am looking forward to using my writing skills to further grow my skills and my love for writing! I think that our newspaper staff is so important to inform us about the issues that affect and concern us in our community and school, and I know that our staff will achieve so much this year!
A little about me: I’m involved in Beta Club, Track and Field, and Cross Country. My favorite hobby is reading, mainly classic literature, but I like reading different types of books too. I also love to paint and draw, and I love to run, especially with friends and family. I love nature and spending time with my dog. I love to learn about politics, science, and art history, and my favorite subjects are math and English.
This upcoming school year, I hope to use my writing skills to the best of my ability, make connections with the school’s community, and celebrate the amazing students and staff here at Central.
Isabella Skipworth, Writer
Hi, my name is Isabella Skipworth, and I am a senior here at Central. This is my first year on the Central Times staff, and I’m very excited about this opportunity. I’ve always loved writing, but I’d never thought about doing it this way. Ms. Sherrard approached me about joining the staff, and I love that this will give me an outlet to share my words with the school.
I want my stories to be something students enjoy reading and that also makes them think. I hope to use my voice to speak up for others and help the student body stay informed and excited about all things Central. I’m especially looking forward to interviewing teachers and students I may not know and learning from them.
In addition to writing for the Times, I am also an active member of the Executive Council and FCA. Outside of school, I’m involved in the youth groups at Grace Heartland and First Christian Church. I also enjoy reading, journaling, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. I always have a book with me or a song stuck in my head. I love deep conversations as well. In short: I love words. They have a beauty and a depth that’s so fun, and I hope to convey that in my articles for the Times.
It’s going to be a great year!
Lia VanZant, Writer
Hey! My name is Lia VanZant, and I am a sophomore. This is my first year on the CHHS newspaper staff, and I’m super excited to see where it takes me. I love spending time with my family and friends, and doing the things I enjoy like playing sports and being social. Let’s learn a little bit more about me.
I don’t usually write a lot, but when I do, I enjoy it. I like to read Colleen Hoover books or just any romance novels. My favorite subject is probably English because I’m good at it and it’s never really been a challenge for me. I also play soccer and swim for Central. I like listening to music of all kinds, and love any opportunity I get to be with my friends. I would say I’m a pretty fun person.
I’m excited to be on the newspaper staff this year because I think it will be a great experience. I am most looking forward to interviewing students around the school, providing the student body with important information, and most importantly, having fun. I’m ready to see how this year goes and how much I learn. Go Bruins!!
Shyann Kline, Writer
Hi! I’m Shyann Kline. I’m a senior and this is my first time being on The Central Times Staff. I’m very excited to be on the staff this year, and I’m looking forward to all the exciting things we will get to do this year and the people I will meet along the way.
I love being able to share and express myself through art, and by joining the staff, I can share and express myself even more. I have a lot of hobbies that I enjoy doing, like painting, crocheting, and drawing. I also really enjoy music, no matter what’s playing. Music has always been a big part of my life, and I usually don’t go anywhere without it.
Reading and writing are also something I enjoy doing when I have the time. Mystery books and horror books are some of my favorite types of books to read. Writing has always been something I love as well, and it also lets me express myself differently.
My goal for this year is to have a year full of excitement and memories that I can cherish about my senior year and the time I spent on The Central Times Staff.
Emily Tester, Writer
Hello! My name is Emily Tester and I am the managing editor of The Central Times for the 2024-2025 school year. I am a junior and this is my second year on the staff. Not only did I have the chance to join the staff my sophomore year but I get to continue to be a part of it. I’m excited to see what’s in store for the upcoming months!
Being on the staff last year opened my eyes to the beauty of journalism. Growing up, I had always liked English class. I loved to read (and still do) and make up stories and journal about anything and everything. When I entered middle school I started honors English class. In my eighth grade year, I discovered my talent and enjoyment in writing.
Entering freshman year, I made a promise to myself that I would put my writing skills to good use and joined The Central Times. This decision has brought many lights to my life. Not only do I get to write, but I’ve met so many great people along the way. It wouldn’t have been the same without the 2023-2024 Central Time staff.
I am also active in FBLA where I am the Region 3 Reporter, Beta Club, Pep Club, and have been working since I turned 15 years old. I love to be active and hope to join and do many more things this year.
I hope you enjoy my articles as much as I enjoy writing them!

You missed me in the pi day picture!!!!!! T^T But I see AJ!
I was the first number. We got pie after we went to all the classes. Cherry, Pumpkin, apple (Sugar free because it was the only apple there), and peach. I had a little slice of everything except pumpkin and they were all very good! We made Pie-kus (Haikus but 3.14) and tried a puzzle which was to make a square and the pie symbol with some shapes.
