This Students find comfort in pictures of their friends who left too ealy, listening to shared music, and videos. The school finds comfort in memorializing them.
The new Memorial Tablet, taken out of storage during the summer, contains 33 names, all who attended Central Hardin from 1991 to 2025. May They Rest In Peace.
There used to be memorial trees with stones with students’ names. However, due to weather conditions, social studies teacher Mike Sisk proposed the idea of a Memorial Stone. It would be less likely to get damaged, broken, or lost during harsh weather. It was added in 2016-2017.
The new stone is located outside the main office by the curb, situated against the outer wall of the principal’s office. It was reinstated safely after 2-3 years of being in storage due to construction.
Former principal Tim Isaacs wanted solar lights for the Memorial Tablet, so that it could be seen at night. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make that dream come true before he retired.
Nevertheless, the stone stands as a comfort to all who see it.
“It is the Admin’s responsibility to provide students a support system,” Isaacs spoke adamantly.
This isn’t the only way a couple of these students have been memorialized.
Becca’s Place, named after Rebecca Bohannon, who died in 2006, is a gymnastics gym for children.
JT’s Way, was founded after John T. Wiglesworth died in 2019. They specialize in loss of a child’s grievances. They help with funeral expenses and emotional support.
“Death is never easy,” Sisk sympathized.
