Construction Mostly on Schedule for Fall 2025 Completion
September 12, 2022
According to a recent Central Times survey, only 17% of 242 respondents said the construction at school greatly affects their daily life. Nevertheless, the outcome will be significant for future students.
Construction on Central Hardin High School’s 38-year-old building is getting a larger renovation and here is the newest update. The projected date to be completed is Fall 2025.
Are we on schedule with construction?
“It depends on which section you’re talking about, but the gym is on schedule, everything else is a couple of months behind,” principal Tim Isaacs said.
Isaacs said the gym is scheduled to be ready in July 2023, the addition (The fenced section in the front of the building) is to be ready in February 24 and is at least 2-3 months behind schedule, the renovation that begins in the 300’s and 400’s hallway is not yet started on as it begins phase 2 of construction.
The impact on daily life at Central is uncertain.
“It just seems to come at us,” Isaacs said. “There is a chance that we could lose access to the doors near the senior hallway because that is where the construction will join, but this wouldn’t happen until it’s the last possible thing to do.”
There is the chance of losing some parking spaces as well.
A definite timeline for completion is almost impossible.
“It’s a dance, it’s two groups working together,” Isaascs said.
This collaboration is producing remarkable results.
“The primary things I see are the structural steel going up where you see them actually building up and the concrete being poured,” said Isaascs. “We have floors and cable so we are able to work with electricity for the JROTC and 2 family consumer science rooms. The new gym is dried in to the point they can start working on electricity, there will also be windows in the gym.”
As many of us have probably seen the mess regarding the soccer field, we have an understanding that it’s a year behind.
“They should’ve been playing soccer already,” said Isaacs.
The main cause of the soccer field being restricted is because geothermal energy is being added to our school. The geothermal energy will be located underneath the soccer field. (In case you are not aware what geothermal energy is, it’s where a building is being heated and cooled by the water in the ground, which stays at a constant temperature.)
