The boys’ soccer team is currently second in the district with an 11-3-4 record as they head into postseason play against E-town tonight at Fort Knox.
Senior Matthew Covey spoke on how he’s feeling approaching this game.
“I think we had a solid season. We are going into the postseason with confidence,” Covey said. “We don’t have any injuries right now, all of our players are back.”
The head coach of the Boys Bruin Soccer Team is Austin Varela. The assistant coaches include Joe Thomas, John Brown, Mike Bowers, Scott Mays, and Justin Pawley.
“I certainly think we’re in a better position this year to take on the postseason as opposed to where we were last year,” Varela said. “I’m confident in my team and I know what we’re capable of; if we perform well, I really like our odds.”
The seniors this season are Covey, Zackary Allen, Giovanni Beltran, Jonathan Bland, Jaxon Kist, and Jack Shall.
Allen spoke on what it feels like to be leaving the team after this season.
“I feel confident in our juniors coming up to be seniors,” Allen said. “I know they are very talented.”
Shall agreed with Allen’s confidence in the up-and-coming players and also expressed his own feelings about graduating after this year.
“It’s pretty sad but there’s also a feeling of relief,” Shall said. “Knowing that after all the time I spent that this is our year.”
Show up and show out at Fort Knox tonight to show support for these boys.
