Junior Natalie Wilson was selected to be the September Artist Spotlight for her excellent visual art. She has painted mainly cartoon characters, such as Finn and Jake from “Adventure Time ” and Mabel and Dipper from “Gravity Falls.”
Her love of art sprouted out of the boredom and thirst for creative stimulation during the pandemic in 2020. She began to paint on her bedroom walls, molding her claustrophobic COVID-19 environment into something more fun and whimsical.
“My walls are a part of me and my character,” Wilson said.
She wants to continue transforming her room, which would seem daunting to anyone else. She, however, is taking the project piece by piece.
“I still have a lot to finish and work on, so my main focus right now is to finish painting the whole hallway area and fill up the wall in my room,” Wilson explained.
As Wilson becomes more enveloped in artistic tasks, she remembers why she loves art in the first place.
“I enjoy art because it allows me to create things that are beautiful, interesting, and never seen before,” Wilson said. “It’s a lot of fun.”
