What kind of hatred must you have in your heart? The kind of hatred that causes children to come home orphans, causes disorder in the lives of Americans, and causes over 2,000 people to die untimely deaths? What kind of hatred must you have, knowing God brought you into this world by His own breath, that someone could feel the need to mass murder thousands of God’s people?
On September 11, 2001, 19 members of an Islamist extremist group called Al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial airplanes. They purposefully crashed two of the planes into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center. A third plane crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth plane, after the terrorists heard of the other attacks, crashed into an open field in Western Pennsylvania.
The Twin Towers ultimately collapsed due to the severity of the impact, as well as, the fires that occurred from the crash. When the planes crashed, between 16,400 and 18,000 people were in the World Trade Center. This left insurmountable numbers of people suffering a devastating loss. Children lost parents, parents lost children, families were shattered into shards that could not be fixed.
All day, September 11, 2024, conversations have been had concerning the topic. More often than not, the severity of the day has been downplayed. During the announcement Mr. Issacs made this morning, people were making fun of the events that have happened. Telling inappropriate jokes, saying that it wasn’t that bad, saying they wouldn’t care if it happened again. This is not something to take lightly. I hope by writing this people see and understand the severity of these events. Not only that, but it is our responsibility to bring awareness to those around us so that we are not doomed to repeat these events.
My challenge for you is to take this subject seriously and find some ways that you can inform those around you.

Wonderfully written, Becca! You are right, each of us needs to examine our heart for the sake of humanity. And how easy it is to brush off this event that happened over 2 decades ago, yet for many, is still just as vivid as yesterday, especially those who were affected firsthand and left with so many unanswered questions. For those of us who do remember, what a tragic day – so much sadness and questions about where this country is going. As we near another presidential election, many Americans have hearts burdened with heavy emotions of sadness and uncertainty. Again, what kind of hatred are we harboring in our hearts to not be the change for the sake of humanity? The kind of change that God calls us to be – especially those who call themselves a Child of God? Your article is thought-provoking and a wonderful tribute as many of us take time to remember 9/11/2001. Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.

I collected some of my photos from the 9/11 Museum for you and your readers. As someone who doesn’t remember this day, as I know is a similar experience for students who weren’t yet born, it can be confusing to understand the severity. But seeking out to learn from others experiences is one of the most valuable lessons I have learned. bit.ly/3XEKZHT
