Fall Break is a time for students to enjoy the change of season and enjoy the not-so-hot but not-so-cold weather. Instead of bed rotting and spending all day on your phone, here are ten things you can do during the break.
- Visit A Pumpkin Patch or Apple Orchard
One fall necessity is going to a patch or orchard. There are many locations in Hardin County, such as The Pumpkin Wagon, Crawfords Farms, Hintons Farm and Orchard, and many more. You can purchase pumpkins and drink as much cider as your heart desires. Don’t forget to take some cute fall pictures.
2. Visit A Nearby Coffee Shop and Enjoy A Book
To get away from the screen and enjoy the time away from school, pick up a book. Even if you are an advent reader or this would be the first book you picked up in years (besides school) it is good to enjoy words on paper. To go along with the book, try some of the fall coffee flavors from one of the many coffee shops in town.
3. Catch Up On Schoolwork
Surely there are some students who need to catch up on missing work. Even if the break is meant to relax and let the stress release from your body, it is still good to benefit from the time and catch up on work so you only have to do it when school is back in session.
4. PSAT Practice
When school is back in session sophomores and juniors who signed up for the PSAT have to take it on the 16th. If you want some practice and want to know how the test will be, make sure to take the Practice PSAT (which can be located on the tab on your chromebook. Students went over the details with Mrs. Carpenter).
5. Go Halloween Costume Shopping
As the month of October is getting closer and closer to the spooky holiday, everyone needs their costumes. A lot of teenagers no longer dress up but if you’re going to a party, trick or treating, or matching your friends/siblings, then take this free time and go shopping for your costume.
6. Visit A Haunted House/Woods
In Kentucky alone, there are multiple places to visit to get your adrenaline pumping. There’s a variety of haunted houses, haunted woods, and haunted attractions. Visiting one of these gets a scare and gets you into the mood of the month.
7. Bake Fall Treats
If you enjoy baking or cooking make some fall treats. There are pumpkin squares, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin pie, apple cider cookies, and many more that smell like fall and taste like it too. You can even make some for your friends.
8. Carve/Paint A Pumpkin
If you go to one of those pumpkin patches, you can use the insides to make a fall treat and carve or paint the outside. Once you’ve carved or painted it you can set it outside as decor or have a contest with your friends/family to see who did the best one.
9. See a horror movie
Some people enjoy horror and others font. But if you’re an individual who enjoys the heart raving and the adrenaline rush, go to the movies and enjoy one of the horror movies coming out. There is Alien: Romulus, Blink Twice, The Front Room, and many more.
10. Fall Picnic
Go to Freeman Lake and set up a picnic with fall foods either with your friends, family, or even yourself. While you’re there you can see and enjoy the change of scenery in nature.
Hopefully, you are all enjoying and enjoying the break away from school. And if you needed some recommendations on ways to spend your time, hopefully, this article helped! Have a good break!
