Ukraine and How to Help
March 10, 2022
We all know at least a little about what is currently happening in our world. Russian forces attacked Ukraine on Feb. 21 and since then, have been dropping bombs on major Ukrainian cities. Cities including Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson. In light of the events, many more fortunate people have been donating to help Ukrainian forces from home, but if you’d like to help too, here are some of the most trustworthy charities you can donate to, including some for other countries as well.
International Rescue Committee
As soon as you enter their website, the IRC has a place to donate to Ukraine. Founded by Albert Einstein in 1933, the organization has worked to help those affected by disasters throughout the world, including climate crises and war. They provide nutrition and healthcare as their main areas, two things needed desperately throughout the world. To donate or for more information, go to https://www.rescue.org/.
Heart to Heart International
Heart to Heart International’s mission is to “provide health care in the U.S and around the world.” Their website also lists their values: passion, inclusion, stainability, partnerships, and enterprising. They provide services in over 130 countries, have provided more than 2.2 billion dollars, and have 1.1 million service hours. To help or for more information, head over to https://www.hearttoheart.org/ways-to-give/.
Save the Children
As the name suggests, this charity focuses on the children affected by poverty and war around the world. On their site, you’re able to see where your donation is going and how far little bits will go. For example, their site states that $50 can feed three children for a month. Single and monthly donations are available and Save the Children works all over the world, including Ukraine. To donate or for more information, go to https://www.savethechildren.org/.
Conclusion
Every little bit can help. A few dollars can mean so much to the lives of those living in tumultuous situations and my heart goes out to anyone that applies to. Thank you to everyone who has helped so far.
