Bruins Win 12th Straight Hardin County Cup

The Bruin JROTC Battalion hosted the 12th Annual Hardin County Raider Cup at Central Hardin on 15 September. FT Knox, Central, John, and North Hardin, along with Bullitt Central and North Bullitt competed for the top honors. The CPT Charles F. Thomas IV Traveling Cup is presented annually to the winner in memory of FT Knox High School and WKU graduate/ROTC Alumni who was fatally wounded in combat while serving in Vietnam.
A good crowd turned out for the competition and witnessed outstanding teamwork and determination. The One Rope Bridge, Tire Flip, Aid & Litter Carry, Relay, and Cross Country Run events were physically and mentally challenging for the Cadets. Senior Cadets from UL and WKU Army ROTC along with the Elizabethtown Army Recruiting Station served as judges. The Kentucky Army National Guard presented plaques for the winner of each event.
Central Hardin placed 1st, and 3rd in the 14-team competition. They won the Traveling Cup for the 12th straight year having the highest combined team scores for their top 2 teams. Bruin Team 1 won 3 of the 5 events and received the Top Raider Team trophy. FT Knox Team 1 placed 2nd overall winning 2 events.
