BOYS’ BASKETBALL

The boys’ varsity basketball team, coached by Matt Nickell, went 19-14 this season. The Bruins took home the title of District Runner-up after falling to Elizabethtown 69-63 in the District Championship (Feb. 25). The boys ended their season in the first round of the Region Championship against LaRue County (Mar. 2). Junior Brett Decker led the team in scoring, three-point shots, and free throws made, averaging 23.1 points per game. Senior Jakob Fredrickson led the team with 203 rebounds, averaging 6.3 a game. (These stats are updated as of Mar. 9 and do not include the most recent game.)

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
The girls’ varsity basketball team, coached by Kristina Covington-Jones, went 11-14 this season. The Lady Bruins fell short in the first round of the District Tournament against Elizabethtown, with a final score of 64-55 (Feb. 22). Sophomore Juliana Stith led the team in both scoring and three-point shots made, averaging 12.7 points a game. Sophomore Khania Jones led the team in both rebounds, with 256, and free-throws made, with 70.

BOYS’ SWIM

The boys’ varsity swim team, coached by Natalie Miller, placed fourth as a team at the Region Championship Meet (Feb. 3-4). Earlier in the season, Central Hardin Swim acquired the runner-up title at the Debbie Loy Memorial Invitational Meet. Chip Collins was awarded “Senior High Point Winner” at the Panther Winter Invitational. Collins also broke Central Hardin’s school record in the 50-meter Freestyle as well as the 100-meter Freestyle.

GIRLS’ SWIM
The girls’ varsity swim team, coached by Natalie Miller, placed third overall at the Region Championship Meet (Feb. 3-4). Earlier in the season the girls placed second at the Panter Winter Invitational as well as second at the Laker Fall Preview. At the Panther Winter Invitational, Izzy Gorin was awarded “Sophomore High Point Winner” and Saraya Almasarweh was awarded “7th Grade High Point Winner.” At the Debbie Loy Memorial Invitational, senior Ellie Wright was awarded “Swimmer of the Meet.”Â

BOYS INDOOR TRACK
The boys’ varsity track team, coached by Tim Pennington, had a successful indoor track season placing 18th at the AAA Indoor State Championships (Mar. 3). Senior Kase VanBlijenburgh set the indoor 60-meter hurdle school record and sophomore Jared Fairbanks broke the indoor two-mile school record. Junior Reece Rhinehart set the new indoor weight throw school record.

GIRLS INDOOR TRACK
The girls’ varsity track team, coached by Samantha Dale, had a victorious indoor track season placing 10th at the AAA Indoor State Championships (Mar. 3). Sophomore Kennedi Alford broke the indoor 60-meter and 200-meter dash school records and junior Lilly Callahan set the indoor 300-meter dash school record. Senior Serena McNeilly broke the indoor high jump and triple jump school record and senior Lovisa Ridderstrale set the indoor weight throw school record. Relay team Kennedi Alford, Autumn Callahan, Lilly Callahan, and Syra Lundergan set the indoor 4×200-meter school record and relay team Autumn Callahan, Hannah Cox, Hanna Grass, and Syra Lundergan set the indoor 4×400-meter school record.Â

WRESTLING
The boys’ varsity wrestling team, coached by Greg Mark, had a phenomenal season this school year. Sophomore Roman Valera was the Region Champion in the 106 lb. weight class and Junior McKay Payton was Region Champion in the 190 lb. weight class. Senior Jacob Fulkerson snagged Region Runner-up in the 157 lb. weight class and freshman Derrick Johnson finished 3rd in the 132. lb weight class. Freshman Samuelu Hazelwood finished 4th in the 165 lb. weight class and junior Noah Payton finished 4th in the 175 lb. weight class.

BOYS’ ARCHERY
The boys’ varsity archery team, coached by George Shoulders, placed top three at every meet they competed at during the winter portion of their season. William Bacon, Elijah Barnes, Bryson Brawner, Dawson Brown, Alex Crain, Davante Early, Antero Garris, Nick Killensworth, Robby Shelon, and Dominick Sipes have led the boys in placing so far. The Region and State Tournaments will be covered in the spring.

Davante Early – 5th place at St. James Annual 10-meter
Robby Shelton – 4th place at EH/CH Tournament

GIRLS’ ARCHERY
The girls’ varsity archery team, coached by George Shoulders, placed top three at every meet they competed at during the winter portion of their season. Emily Cox, Bennett Green, Lily Hodges, Myleigh Parrish, Isabella Sexton, and Abigail Williams have led the girls team in placing so far. The Region and State Tournaments will be covered in the spring.

BOYS’ BOWLING
The boys’ varsity bowling team, coached by Dayton Epperson, was named the Region Champions. Junior Carley Shrader was the Region Individual Champion. Earlier in the season, the boys won two regular season tournaments. Unfortunately, the Bruins were knocked out in the first round of the State Championship Tournament by Anderson County.Â
GIRLS’ BOWLING

The girls’ varsity bowling team, coached by Jeff Crady, was named Region Runner-up after being defeated by John Hardin. Senior Samantha Stevens
 placed 3rd and freshman Ava Baggett placed 4th in the singles rounds. Earlier in the season, the girls won two regular season
 tournaments. The girls were also knocked out in the first round of state, however, this the first year both boys and girls made it into the state tournament.
