When listening to music, everyone has a favorite band or musician they would love to see live. On Nov. 9 in Pikeville, Kentucky, I got to see some bands I enjoy listening to. My family and I decided months ago that it was time for another concert, and we found this one. We all equally enjoy these bands and thought it would be a fun time.
When we arrived, we were excited to share the experience of listening to music live. We chose to pay for the Seether VIP package, which included a bag, a signed poster, a VIP lanyard, a small case of guitar picks, and early access to the venue and the merch. It started well when we arrived and were told we would only have to wait around 20 or 30 minutes, but we ended up waiting over an hour, and it started to rain while waiting.
Some people paid for the meet-and-greet with the different bands, so they were also holding up the early access line. While waiting for our line to move past the time, the staff was letting people who were extremely late for the meet-and-greet in. The staff didn’t really seem like they knew what they were doing, and started to get an attitude with us waiting for the cold rain.
Once we were let in, we bought some of the merch they had at the tables, then headed to find our seats. While we were waiting for the first band, we decided to grab some popcorn and a drink, trying to make the best of the situation. 
The opening band, Kami Kehoe, was amazing. Her band kept the mood of the music there and tried to get everyone involved in the show. While she may be newer, she does an amazing job when singing and playing the drums. I recommend seeing her and her band when you have a chance.
The next band that was up was P.O.D. They started strong and played great throughout their playing time. Their show was amazing, and the lead singer, Sonny Sandoval, kept the crowd entertained the whole time. They played so many good songs and gave variety to the songs they did. They also did a cover song in the mix of their other songs. If you’re into louder music, they are definitely someone you should see. They keep the show going in the way they entertain
After P.O.D., Daughtry was the next up. The lead singer, Chris Daughtry, has such an amazing voice. Both he and his band did such a great job when playing their songs and tried to keep the crowd entertained. They brought back Kehoe to do a cover song with them as well. I do feel like they had played much longer than any of the other bands, including the band that everyone was there to see. Other than that, they did such an amazing job, and I would definitely recommend seeing them as well if you are into their music.
The last and final band was Seether. They played their songs amazingly, but they only played for a little which was a little disappointing since they were the ones we were there to see. They played some of their most well-known songs, and it was great getting to see them live. Getting to listen to some of the songs live that I’ve listened to thousands of times just makes the experience even better. I think if they had played more songs and interacted with the crowd more, I would have enjoyed Seether more. They did great for the time they did play for though.
The crowd, on the other hand, was boring. They didn’t seem to want to be there, and usually, when you go to a concert, you stand up and enjoy the music. The crowd here was not interacting or even standing. As someone who stands at concerts and likes to participate in the concert, I thought it was weird and uncomfortable. The bands rely on crowds, and when the crowd is lame, the bands aren’t going to play as well.
Overall, the experience was ok, but I think it could have been better. Each band played with confidence and played in their own way, which made the concert special. When P.O.D. started playing “Youth of the Nation,” they took the vibe to the next level since it’s one of their songs that many know. Seeing that song was amazing, and the way they played just lit up the arena. Seether played “Fake It” and “Remedy,” which are some of my favorites from them, and it made me thrilled when I went. It was a good experience in total, but I wouldn’t recommend going to Pikeville, Kentucky, for a rock concert. If you ever get the chance to see any of these bands, it’s worth it.
