When we were younger, it wasn’t uncommon to watch a movie where the main character had been asked to prom by their significant other or friend. They could be seen with a sign and a bouquet or perhaps wearing a costume with other friends who helped make the scene. 

For many people, personally speaking, being asked to prom with a thoughtful proposal was very exciting to think about. As the years have passed prom-posals have become less and less common. When a video pops up on social media of a proposal the date shows it was from 8-10 years ago. 

Some of you might think that prom-proposals are silly in the first place. Why would I want to make a big deal about a high school dance when I can simply ask them instead? The point of the proposal isn’t making a scene for everyone else to see and envy it’s about the thought and the consideration for another person. 

Taking another person’s thoughts and feelings into consideration shows a lot about you as a person. I’m not saying you only care about your relationship(s) if you make an extravagant proposal. However, it’s kind to think about how the other person would feel if they were to be asked with a prom-posal. 

Being asked to prom, an anticipated long-awaited dance, with a stupendous proposal, would be a memory someone is sure not to forget. Even if the relationship with the person does not last, it will still be a memory both parties remember forever.

Not only are prom proposals fun for the people involved but also for the people watching. It’s interesting to see what the person had planned. It also brings joy to many and gives our brains a break from the stress of school. 

All in all, we should bring prom-proposals back. They are fun, and interesting, and show that we care about the relationships between us. What would it be like if prom-posals did resurface again? Would it make the idea of prom more interesting? What’s your opinion?
