Homecoming week is an essential part of high school. Students love the chaos and the fun of the week, whether in the fall or the winter. At Central Hardin, it’s no different. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we are still getting back into the fun side of high school with many class competitions and rewards to give out. Without further ado, here is what you can expect during the 2024 Basketball Homecoming week.

Before the week, students have voted for homecoming nominations. The court was announced last week, and the winners will be announced at our homecoming basketball game against Meade County on Feb. 16.

Students shall participate in dressing up to help their class earn points. We have had our class competitions all year to encourage students to participate. Class points have been reset from the fall Homecoming.

Students should expect to see many of the same activities that we have seen prior. “Capture the Flag will for sure be making a return. Students loved participating; it was a fun way to kick off each morning leading up to the big game.

“We are trying to build upon what we did in the fall. I know sometimes winter energy levels are a little bit lower but we want to keep going with the enthusiasm that we had,” Emily Wortham, a Pep Club sponsor, explained.

There are also going to be numerous events besides Capture the Flag to earn points and get everyone excited about the big game. Students can expect a pep rally during the 5th block on Feb. 15 with games to earn points.

“Students come here to learn every day, so if you’re already here you might as well enjoy yourself,”  Wortham said

Students worry about embarrassing themselves in front of their peers and that’s why many don’t participate; however, you’re only in high school once. So enjoy it as much as possible because fun things in school come few and far between.

Students can sign up for “tug of war” and a “basketball shooting game.” If you are interested in participating, please visit the link below.
